Writing Tips
Every Author and Writer is an Individual as is every Reader and different styles of writing are what make the literary world a never ending source of pleasure and delight. However there a few basic tips and guidelines that if followed will make your book appeal to a wider audience and contribute to your success.
- Copyright - We strongly recommend that you copyright your work [if you are the next J.K. Rowling - 2005 Sunday Times Rich List £519 million / $1.7bn - you will find that the small investment of copyright is money wisely spent].

- Target Market - Think about who your book is targeted at.
- Structure - The book needs a structure - no structure will cause confusion and boredom - remember [BME] Beginning Middle and an End [which may be a lead into your next adventure].
- Draft - Books take time to write and evolve with each chapter, write your book in draft first and as you re-read it amend and change it - add excitement, intrigue, passion and humour. Your book is simply a recipe of ingredients put together properly it will be delicious.
- Use the Internet - search for "writer's resources", "writing a book" and "writing skills" help is free.
- Opening Paragraph - this is where you will make your reader stop think and start to create and imagine the scene that you have set.
Example: Melanie ran barefoot down the beach dodging the people in her way, at 6 or 7 she knew she was different to other girls now at 11 she was able to enjoy being special. Her twin brother Billy chased her "Not here Mels, not in front of everyone, please" he shouted knowing how bad she could be....... but thinking this is going to be soooo funny. Melanie stopped and looked back at him with the wickedest grin you could ever imagine.
Quote " Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere." Carl Sagan
- Title - Great Titles create interest from the start.
- Finally - have a few friends read your book and give you some honest feedback - accept criticism graciously - if you can't stand criticism don't start the book.
