It Was A Hot, Sweltering Summer Day In East Texas. August Seems To Be The Month When The Sun’s Rays Are Like Guided Missiles Strategically Aimed At Everything That Has Breath And Mercilessly Suck It Out. Every Now And Then A Small Breeze Escapes Just To Taunt The Living, Reminding Us How Pleasant Life Could Be, If Only There Was Air. Juanita Just Packed The Last Bag In The Back Of Her Vehicle And Pushed Her Shopping Cart To The Side, Just Enough For Her To Get In, And Start Enjoying Her Air Conditioner. Listening To Her Favorite Christian Radio Station, She Carefully Backed Out Of The Parking Space And Headed For The Parking Lot Exit. Being The Careful Driver That She Is, She Came To A Complete Halt At The Stop Sign, Looked Both Ways Before Proceeding To Make Her Turn Into The Street. About A Mile Down The Road, Stopped At A Red Light, She Saw A Man Walking From A Corner Store And Trying To Cross The Four Lane Street In Front Of Her. She Noticed That He Had Nothing In His Hands And That He Seemed To Be Over Weight, Had On Dingy Clothes, And Had Shoulder Length Curly Hair. Still Stopped At The Red Light, She Hoped That The Light Would Hurry Up So That The Man Wouldn’t Have To Be In The Sun Too Long, For He Had No Hat On, Nor Did He Have An Umbrella. The Strangest Thing To Her Was That He Never Looked Forward; He Kept Looking Back At The Store As He Walked. But When He Finally Stopped To See How To Cross The Street, He Turned His Head So That Juanita Could See His Face. Juanita Squint Her Eyes, And Blinked A Couple Of Times, But Then Decided That The Sun Must Have Caused Her To Have Some Type Of Blurred Vision. For When She Looked At His Face, It Seemed As If He Had No Face. Her Traffic Light Finally Turned Green, So She Drove On Across The Street, Trying To Get Another Glimpse At Him Without Staring, But She Still Couldn’t See A Face On Him. She Thought To Herself That The Next Thing On Her Agenda Is To Get Her Eyes Checked.
